Baker’s Loft is a fantasticly furnished apartment tucked behind the hustle and bustle of Lyme Regis’s main high-street, Broad Street. The location really is unique; being so central surrounded by various cafes, restaurants and watering holes but with all rooms inside the property away from the main high-street and facing the back of the plot.
Behind the front door awaits a beautifully renovated, two bedroom, self-catered holiday apartment with a warming colour pallete throughout. We’ve exposed the original stone walls which were first built in the Georgian era, that creates a stunning look and feel amongst newer yet tranditional furnishings.
The living and dining area is cosy, yet with plenty of space for longer evenings to eat in or to make use of the Smart TV that offers you Netflix at your finger tips. The feature of an original stone, kitchen-living room pass through connects the well equipped kitchen and will likely be used to serve the drinks throughout your evevnings! A Nespresso machine, dishwasher, induction hob and oven are just some examples of how well this property has been furnished and your pefect Dorset getaway. There is also microwave for those wanting quicker meals heated.
The master bedroom features a comfy king size bed as well as a large double wardrobe and chest of drawers for storing your clothes. The decor and art work is fitting with the theme of the area as well as the history of the building.
The second bedroom has a small double bed, two open wardrobe rails and a stunning, upcycled, dusty pink chest of drawers. Whether you’re two sets of couples, a small family or a set of friends visiting Lyme Regis, Baker’s Loft is in a prime location of the town and is your perfect match for exploring the Jurassic Coast.
The bathroom has vibrant tiles with traditional fixtures and a stylish walk-in shower to rinse off the sand or salty water, as well as a heated towel rail to warm the luxurious towels provided. There is also a washing machine if you needed to do any laundry during your stay.

The building that houses Baker’s Loft dates back to the Georgian era, where in 1885 a watch maker, jeweller and gunsmith, called William Notting Farnham, is known to be the first legal owner of the building whilst his brother learnt the same trade on the opposite side of the high-street.
In 1917, Reginald Walter Baker and his wife, Margaret Sarah Baker became the Victorian’s who began to make Lyme Regis a seaside town. They were driven business people who, at one time, owned much property in the town. Margaret was the driving force behind their business ventures, whilst Reginald was at the heart of Town & County politics. He became Mayor of Lyme Regis in 1928 and was also a Dorset county councillor.
In their first few years of settling in Lyme Regis, they created The Cosy Cafe & Dairy providing high class sweets, teas and luncheons. Their business went on to expand and involved adjoining properties as their cafe and sitting rooms became increasingly popular.
Today, the building at 21 Broad Street still has a lovely local bakery on the ground floor that faces onto the high-street, serving typical Dorset delights whilst emiting an incredibly inviting smell to guests staying closeby.
Keeping the history trail going was important to us, which is why we named this property Baker’s Loft and dedicated efforts to renovate and furnish the interiors to an emaculate standard for our holiday guests.
The location of this newly renovated holiday property is fantastic! You are situated on the heart of Broad Street in Lyme Regis with all local cafes, restaurants, pub and shops on your doorstep. Baker’s Loft has an added benefit of being located away from the highstreet meaning you have a much quieter location compared to apartments that look out onto Broad Street. There are 3 other apartments in the building, one of which is ours, called The Hideaway.
For those thinking of booking in groups, this apartment sits above our latest property to Lyme Regis, The Hideaway, which can sleeps 2 comfortably and has a sun trapped garden featuring a wood fired hot tub!
There is an NCP car park very close to Baker’s Loft, and booking in advance is actually very reasonable via their app. Woodmead Car Park is another great option and just a 6 minute walk, located on the middle of Hill Road next to the Lyme Regis Police Station.
Holmbush Car Park is another option located further up the hill on Pound Street. You’re able to unload luggage and then drop off the car at either location before starting your holiday! For further details on parking please take a look here.
