Local Entertainment in Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis has a bucketload of things to do, whether you’re visiting for a weekend or staying with us for longer, below are our suggestions for your holiday schedule! If you’d prefer to do nothing and enjoy our beautiful accommodation, we understand that as well. Being local to the town, we’ve been lucky to experience the delights Lyme Regis has to offer over the years, which in turn are constantly being developed with new attractions and ideas. Besides the beaches, local walks, restaurants and general tourist attractions, Lyme also offers a more relaxed activity for you and the family to indulge in during your stay…Lights. Camera. Action!

Marine Theatre

Lyme’s theatre is a venue for a variety of entertainment throughout the year including comedy, musical and theatrical performances. The venue is also a host to other community-led events including festivals, craft fairs and exhibitions. The Marine Theatre is right on the seafront in Lyme Regis, part of a UNESCO world heritage site. The location has beautiful views of the sea, Lyme bay and is very important to the Marine’s identity, which makes it appealing to both the public and performers.

Marine Theatre has two bars, with one in the auditorium. The upstairs bar has an outdoor terrace with panoramic views across Lyme Regis, The Cobb, and the Jurassic coast. The inside bar opens an hour before every show (except daytime family shows) and it is the home to smaller intimate shows such as the popular Jazz in the Bar concert, and Sunday Sessions, which promote more local musicians. They serve local beers, ales, wines, spirits, and cocktails.

The Marine is 125 years old and used to be called the Drill Hall, the Drill Hall Theatre, the Marine Theatre and a Cinema. Before 1894 the site was used as salt baths—part of the old building still exists, primarily in the dressing room area.

Marine Theatre’s events can be found on their website via ‘Whats On?’

The theatre’s programme includes upcoming events, local places to eat and drink with deals and discounts, local business advertisements and other relevant Lyme Regis information.
